Every year we have to submit a picture to the K-State football program. It worked out well, since it cooresponded with Ryder's one year birthday. We combined the efforts and had a double photo session. I picked a couple favorites and posted them, which was really hard to do...as you can tell by how many I posted! I absolutely love our photographer, Brandi with La Brista Photography, she is so creative and patient. We always LOVE our pictures. Thank you Brandi!!

Flash Floods hit Manhattan
The past couple of weeks it has done nothing but rain. So, the ground finally hit its saturation point and what bad timing, on Wednesday we had 5 more inches of rain (per a friend's rain gauge). The town of Manhattan flooded.
We lucked out, our house sits on a berm about 3 foot above the rest of the neighborhood. The others were not so lucky. Check out the pictures...it will be hard to grasp if you do not know our neighborhood, but I will try and describe location.
This is our streets (Whitetail) intersection with Fairman, this about 5 houses away.
This is looking out towards the main road...no one is getting in or out.
This is from our next store neighbors yard. The neighbor had some work being done in her yard and the water swallowed up the excavator.
As you can see, the water kept rising...
This is a picture from our backyard, which was saturated but not flooded. There is (was) a golf course on the other side of the creek. It was completely underwater.
Honestly, with the streets flooded and our yards flooded, our row of houses looked like an island. Everyone in the neighborhood pulled together and helped out those that needed it. Even nature needed a hand, a frightened fawn was misplaced due to the flooding and came up into the neighborhood, unfortunately the poor thing fell about 5 foot into a window well and could not get out. Nice neighbors and the City of Manhattan lifted her out and dried her off and sent her on her way. No picture of that, I did not want to walk over, the poor thing was frightened and letting out a sad screaming noise, I know I would have been in tears.

We are walking!!
This will be a quick post. The other day I put Ryder down, he was standing at the couch and I went to open the front door. When I turned around from opening the door, Ryder was standing behind me. He had walked over. Since then...he just walks. Enjoy the video...I know we have been enjoying our little walker!

These flat feet are made for walking...
Here is a quick video of Ryder taking a couple steps. He is trying out his walking legs these days. I think he finally realized that it hurts his knees to crawl everywhere and that he can hold toys while he walks.

Memorial Day Weekend...
This Memorial day weekend was a success. We had Ricky's dad and step mom in town and we had a great visit. They did not get off easy, we put them to work the first day babysitting Ryder and then it was out into the yard for landscaping and back into the house for baby proofing and finally we cleaned out the garage. We let them relax with with some golf and a nice Memorial day picnic with our neighbors, the Walkers. It was a great time for all.
I was so busy working that I did not take many pictures, but we did have a nice rain on Saturday, so we dressed up Ryder in his boots and raincoat (thanks Granny and Pup-pup) and went out to splash in some puddles. Plus, we got a couple good father son pictures.
