Happy Birthday to Yogi

This past Friday was Yogi Bear’s first birthday. It was a pretty uneventful birthday. He was not given his presents till Saturday and still has not received his birthday treats. Poor Kahla came down with Pancreatitis and has not been able to eat a thing for the past 4 days. I cannot bear to give Yogi a treat and Kahla not partake in the fun. So, we will be celebrating in two weeks, when Kahla can finally eat real dog food and treats.

In the meantime, enjoy the pictures of Yogi with half his birthday stuff; his new lion (which got torn apart and replaced by...) his new monkey (again torn apart, so I gave up) and his disgusting pig’s ear.

Kahla’s Half Birthday

Tuesday night we had a small party to celebrate Kahla’s half birthday. Unfortunately, I missed her birthday this year and decided a half birthday was just as good.

In Kansas City, I picked up some doggie treats from the Three Dog Bakery. My mom actually picked some up for them as well, so they got double the treats.

I took some good pictures. I tried to get pictures of them eating the treats, but they went too fast!

Joni takes Manhattan

My mom came out for an extended visit this past week. Although it was hot and muggy for most of her visit, we managed to show her the town and enjoy Manhattan. Thursday she took a tour by herself, and roamed the west side of Manhattan for nearly 4 hours.

I put her to work on Friday making a new bed for Kahla (Yogi ripped apart her old one). Friday evening we shopped for quilting stuff and made dinner at home. Relaxing and productive.

We also entertained the Rahne family for a quick visit, Ray, Dar and Kaden joined us for our Saturday adventures. Saturday was the day of picnics; we had my work picnic at the lake during the day, where it reached a cool 103 degrees. Saturday night we kicked off the Kansas State football season with a football BBQ at the Prince’s house.

Pictures of the Kahla swimming at lake picnic will be available later. I would have liked to introduce Yogi to water that day, but things were a little too crazy for him.

Sunday, we shopped and relaxed and then met up with the first wives of KSU football for some dinner at a local favorite, Coco Bolos.

Monday we ventured to Kansas City to shop the Plaza and stayed out near the airport so she could make her flight to Seattle in the morning.

Although the trip was uneventful, I think my mom enjoyed spending time with her granddogs. The two dogs were in their glory having someone to play with all day. Although, the plan of walking Yogi was quickly defunct when he knocked my mom over twice on Wednesday. Even though they got off to a rocky start, I think the dogs and mom had a great time together. I know they missed her terribly on Tuesday when they spent the day all caged up.

Myrtle in 2008

Ricky and I joined my family on a weeklong trip to Myrtle Beach. It was a fantastic family trip and we came home with a great tan and ton of pictures.

This was our first trip to the Myrtle beach area and wow…that place gets packed. We did a little golfing, but we spent most of our time lounging on the beach.

We were down there for the 4th of July, which is pretty impressive. It not the biggest fireworks you will ever see, but it was a solid hour of lights and you could see fireworks going up over the coast for miles. It was great!!
